The Royal Nonesuch - Why Should I Care

Review by Chantal Taylor

The album Why Should I Care by Royal Nonesuch is a refreshing blend of indie rock and pop that showcases the band's versatility and creativity. The album consists of 10 tracks that are all unique in their own way, yet seamlessly flow together to create a cohesive sound.

The opening track "Fading Away" sets the tone for the album with its upbeat tempo and catchy chorus. The lyrics are relatable and speak to the struggles of letting go of a past relationship. "All I Need" is another standout track with its dreamy guitar riffs and haunting vocals. The song's melancholic tone perfectly captures the feeling of longing for someone who is no longer there.

The band's ability to switch between different genres is evident in tracks like "Lies" and "Broken Dreams." "Lies" has a more electronic sound with its use of synths and a pulsating beat, while "Broken Dreams" has a more stripped-down acoustic feel.

About The Royal Nonesuch

The band was first formed in Springfield, Missouri in the 70's by Walt Ressmeyer, guitarist Jabez Petefish and drummer John Marshal. All were avid fans of '60s garage rock sound and collected recordings by obscure artists and one-hit wonders of that era. For years, the Nonesuch was a true garage band, jamming at home for kicks before it actually started to play out in 1982. The group eventually played in cities all over the United States during the '80s and even traveled to Europe. The musicians parted ways in 1989. The group was so adamant about the music thate the used instruments and equipment from the time period. They would run old Vox and Rickenbacker guitars through Vox amps.
