Review by Steven Beardsley

"Until Then" is a classic country album that features the dynamic duo of George Jones and Melba Montgomery. Released in 1965, this album showcases the incredible vocal talents of both artists as they sing a collection of traditional country songs.

From the opening track "We Must Have Been Out of Our Minds" to the closing number "Let's Invite Them Over," Jones and Montgomery deliver powerful performances that are both heartfelt and authentic. Their voices blend together seamlessly, creating a unique sound that is both soulful and timeless.

The album is a perfect example of the traditional country style that was popular in the 1960s. Each song tells a story, and the lyrics are filled with emotion and honesty. The instrumentation on the album is also top-notch, with fiddles, steel guitars, and other classic country instruments providing the perfect accompaniment to the vocals.

I just found out Melba wrote this.

I think his duets with Melba were far better than Tammy's

I used to play this on WHIM in Providence. Great as it is, the live version on YouTube leaves this in the dust. They define everything great about country duets; it's as though they have a Vulcan mind meld.

A lot of songs may claim to be the perfect country song. Country is in a class all by itself and I tell you truly borhters and sisters, there just ain't much of it left in this world. Manufactured country today is akin to making Kansas City strips out of soy beans....it just don;t digest!

Take it from a old musician, country can not be manufactured. It has to be grown from the dirt...something only God can create. This song, is about as close to the perfect country song as God ever made! I ain't saying its the best song or even the most meaningful, but it was written by Melba, a pure country writer and sang by Melba and George, two pure country singers and I grade it as excellent! With songs like this available on the tube, why would I ever want to buy any of the fake music they call "today's country"?

I love Tammy Wynette but at the same time I have always felt that Melba Montgomery was a much better vocal duet partner for George Jones by far. The sound of their voices together was/is absolutely magical to me whenever I light up, kick back and really listen to them...???✌?
