Review by Alice Clancy

Red Kirk & Judy Perkins With Jerry Byrd And The String Dusters have released their latest album, "I Wonder Who We Think We're Fooling Fairy Tales," and it's a delightful collection of songs that will take listeners on a journey through the world of fairy tales.

The album features a mix of original songs as well as covers of classic fairy tale tunes, all of which are given a fresh spin by the talented musicians. Red Kirk and Judy Perkins provide wonderful vocals that are both playful and haunting, while Jerry Byrd's steel guitar adds a touch of magic to each track. The String Dusters' instrumentation is spot-on, creating a rich and lush sound that perfectly complements the vocals.

One standout track is "Little Red Riding Hood," which features a driving beat and soaring vocals that will have listeners tapping their toes and singing along. "The Frog Prince" is another highlight, with its haunting melody and beautiful harmonies.

Hey Ray check out vintage Byrd on "I 'Wish I Had A Sweetheart". Good stuff!

Judy Perkins was a frequent harmony vocalist with Red Kirk and I feel, their duets are unequaled by anyone in the business. Judy cut several records with Kirk and JERRY BYRD's steel guitar can be heard on them. Jerry's TONE was simply fantabulous. I first hears this record on a dj show in Portland. Fifty years later, I found a copy on eBay.

This tune was on my "WANT LIST" for more than 50 years until my great friend Ron Whitfield in Honolulu alerted me to a copy being auctioned on eBay. I've been corresponding with Judy Perkins the past couple of years. I think her and Red Kirks' duets were top drawer. She also did a lot of singing with Ernie Lee from the Renfro Valley Barn Dance in Kentucky and later WLW Cincinnati.
