About Images In Vogue
Images in Vogue was a Canadian New Wave group in the 1980s.
The band was formed in 1981 in Vancouver, and originally consisted of vocalist Dale Martindale, guitarist Don Gordon (later of Numb), synth players Joe Vizvary and Glen Nelson, bassist Gary Smith and percussionist Kevin Crompton (later of Skinny Puppy). The band's manager was Kim Clarke Champniss, later to become a MuchMusic VJ.
The band released four EPs before their full-length debut, 1985's In the House. Their first notable chart hit was "Lust for Love

Skinny Puppy brought me here (even though cEvin is gone by this point). . . . .funny that this band was never played in Los Angeles (80's club / KROQ / Etc.) they were really good, I probably would have wore out a cassette tape of them drinking in the 7 Seas parking lot before going in
Dale was Bishōnen before anyone had heard the term! And that drummer back there seems like a talented fellow, I expect big things in his future...
I bought a used $5 copy of an IIV record at a record store in Vancouver a decade ago. After giving it a spin I had difficulty returning it to its sleeve. I flipped the sleeve upside down and gave it a shake. To my surprise a postcard fell out that said "Images in Vogue would like to thank you for your support of the In the House tour". It was signed by all six members! What a treat!
I always loved this song, and the extended version was fantastic, but I can't find it anywhere. Not even on Youtube.

There was a cool PS2 RPG called Star Ocean which featured a character called Albel Nox whose design, no doubt, was inspired by Dale's look in this video.
This is an under-rated new wave classic... straight out of Canada.
So many bands in Canada at this time, dessing like this, hanging around in rehearsal spaces and rented lofts, trying to get gigs and be discovered as the "next big New Wave thing". Good times.

It must have been easier to "move out and get away" in Vancouver in the 80's, because now most young people are living at home till their 30's because of Vancouver's ridiculous housing prices :(
