Review by Kristen Valus

Symphonie N7 Léningrad Lage DOr Suite de Ballet by Chostakovitch is a masterpiece that showcases the exceptional skills of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Bernard Haitink. The album features two of Chostakovitch's most renowned works, each performed with immaculate precision and passion.

The first part of the album, Symphonie N7 Léningrad, is a powerful and gripping composition that captures the tumultuous history of the Soviet Union during World War II. The London Philharmonic Orchestra delivers a stunning performance that highlights the intricate dynamics of the piece. From the somber opening to the explosive finale, the orchestra navigates through the complex emotions of the symphony with ease.

The second part of the album, Lage DOr Suite de Ballet, is a delightful combination of light-hearted melodies and intricate rhythms. The London Philharmonic Orchestra brings out the playful and whimsical nature of the piece with its vibrant performance. The various movements of the suite seamlessly blend together, creating a cohesive and enjoyable listening experience.
