Jaco Is Not Dead is a tribute album to the legendary jazz bassist Jaco Pastorius, featuring various artists such as Randy Brecker, Mike Stern, and Felix Pastorius. The album is a celebration of Jaco's life and music, showcasing his influence on the contemporary jazz scene.
The album opens with "Continuum," performed by Randy Brecker and featuring some impressive trumpet solos. The track sets the tone for the rest of the album, with its upbeat tempo and intricate bass lines. The album also features some of Jaco's most well-known compositions such as "Teen Town" and "Portrait Of Tracy," performed by Mike Stern and Felix Pastorius respectively.
One of the standout tracks on the album is "Kuru/Speak Like A Child," performed by Richard Bona. The track is a fusion of two of Jaco's compositions and showcases Bona's virtuosity on the bass. The album ends with "Three Views Of A Secret," performed by Victor Bailey, which is a fitting tribute to Jaco's legacy.
