About thOught industry
Formed: 1989 in Kalamazoo, Michigan USA.
Disbanded circa 2001/2.
From 1983-1988 the band was known by the name Desacrator and released a demo "111MZD" in 1988.
Initially a avant-garde thrash metal / progressive rock hybrid, Thought Industry began stripping down their sound by the time of 1996's ; moving into alternative and art rock by the time they recorded their fourth album in 1997. They remained active as of 2001 but disbanded shortly after the release of the album .
Vocalist, bass guitarist and chief songwriter Brent Oberlin was last involved with the band as of 2002.

Comments
I saw them in 1994 in Austin Texas. The band killed! The drummer was superhuman.
Very reminiscent of the Japanese Prog Thrash band "Doom".
USA's Thought Industry released five albums before disbanding: their 1992 debut, Songs for Insects, is a clone of Metallica, Megadeth, Fates Warning and Toxik. A senseless mesh of Ska dances, Post-Punk desperate quirkness and dub Thrash Metal chugging, not to count the horrendously faceless vocals.
prog-grunge-art-thrash with gratuitous panning - no chance of fitting in
Strong Mr.Bungle vibes
Genius.
The climax of human music history !
Ah, the classic ABABCBDEFGHIJEFGHIJKLMNONOPOPOQRSTUTJV song structure.
I had heard of this band but never heard them until now, a friend of mine told me to check them out. I like, also like comment from teacher, we need more teachers like that.
Saw them at the State in Kalamazoo in 1994 or around that time. Best show I ever saw at that local.
Bought this masterwork when it first came out and eagerly awaited every subsequent release! I have them all backed up on two different hard drives. Brent Oberlin is a goddamn genius!! Recently heard about their reunion shows - does this mean a new album?! "Let's go sailing Mr. Hurley, yeeaaahh!" 111mzd!!
Finding insect songs for my 2nd graders, this is the second tab I opened. Teaching: never a dull moment. (good song too).
still in my top 10 fav bands....saw em about 6x since this record came out
I was smart enough to get every TI cd years ago...they will have to pry them from my cold dead hands!
great band! one of the best! I think they were before their time sadly :/ ppl were not ready for greatness at the time...
zd
One of these days brent will get bored and release 111 new songs...and we will rejoice!
Still the greatest band almost no one has heard of. Second greatest live show I have ever seen.
@5stringgod I had to order Songs for Insects off Ebay from Scotland....it only cost me .99 cents. Found Mods at a local music store called Finders. Good luck and protect them with your life ;)
Devil dandy sulfur daisy I my EYE debatable flummery me free Liliputian ego rayon vest a smooth chest smooth no complication no compendium sangfoid I disencumber with equilibrium a drunkard I am...
this whole album was a great masterpiece.it explored no bondries with changing tempos and cool riffs .they took it to a higher level .
@ENEMENCIO123VISION Oh now I see... haha. Well done!
I don't know when, but when I get the time I'll put up both of these gems.
