About Swingers
's post band, pulled together from the ashes of the Auckland punk band in April 1979, after Judd produced that band's last single.
Their January 1981 'Counting The Beat' single was a massive Australasian hit, and is still heard on radio and TV everywhere in New Zealand and Australia.

The song writing, performances, and production in this song are off chops. It doesn’t get better than this. And to think this was the 80’s with those terrible sounding songs. True Phil - a genius walking to his own beat and doing it with unbelievable style.

A fantastic track. Remember finding the single in the 2nd hand section of the old Record Market in Brisbane in the late 80s. The B side (The Flak) was just as good.

Tenía un recuerdo muy vago de la intro de esta canción en un cassette de música new wave de los 80s que irónicamente grabe a inicios de los 90s Y de verdad que me quede asombrado e impactado por la calidad de su música que tardíamente conoci hasta este año. Es una pena que tan prodigiosa década de los 80s no contaba con un medio como el internet para que esta magnifica banda se haya popularizado.

The kiwis have given the world some amazing songwriters, bands and acts. Such a shame that these guys are largely overlooked considering their music is just so fucking good! Brings back some fabulous memories listening to this gem! Eternally thankful to the swingers, my childhood would not have been complete without their songs
