Review by Nobutaka Ueda

A Froggy Plays In London Town by Stéphane Grappelli is a delightful album that showcases the masterful jazz violinist's talents in a live setting. Recorded at London's Pizza Express Jazz Club in 1991, the album captures Grappelli's signature style and energy as he performs classic jazz standards and original compositions.

The album opens with the upbeat and swinging "Sweet Georgia Brown," which sets the tone for the rest of the album. Grappelli's virtuosic playing is on full display here, as he effortlessly improvises and weaves in and out of the melody. Other standout tracks include "Misty," a tender and romantic ballad, and "A Foggy Day," a lively and playful tune that features Grappelli's trademark sense of humor.

Throughout the album, Grappelli is backed by a talented group of musicians, including pianist Marc Fosset, bassist Patrice Caratini, and drummer Jean-Philippe Viret. The chemistry between these musicians is palpable, and they play off each other with ease and precision.
