About Renato E Seus Blue Caps
The "embryo" of all and His Blue Caps Renato are the three brothers of the family Barros, Renato, Paulo Cezar and Edson (Ed Wilson). In the late '50s, influenced by the musical tastes of the family, and the Rock'n Roll Elvis, Little Richard and Bill Haley, the boys began to imagine that they could participate in radio programs, mimicking the song hits, something that was quite common at that time. After a disastrous show in radio Mayrink Veiga, the program "Today is a day of Rock" by Jair de Taumartugo, began to devote himself to live music.
They spent hours locked, perfecting the technique on their instruments. Paulo Cezar, for example, began playing the piano with two fingers, and later realized that her business was the bass.
Until then there had been formed a whole, and had adopted the name "Rock Bacaninhas of Mercy," an allusion to the neighborhood in which they were created, in Rio de Janeiro. They soon joined the Barros brothers friends Euclid (guitarist) Gelson (drums) and saxophonist Roberto Simonal (brother of singer Simonal).
Already the name of Renato and His Blue Caps, inspired by Gene Vincent, the group performed in the same program, playing and singing "Be-bop-a-lula" and won first place this week and thereafter, the prize Best month. Also in 1960, recorded the first 78 rpm disc, the label Cyclone, which accompanied the vocal group "The Teenagers". The following year, they recorded with Tony Billy, the same label. During this period, Gelson leaves together and Claudio goes for the drummer of the group. After participation in a program Chacrinha on TV Tupi, was hired by the Copacabana, where they released two 78s and two LPs in 1962 (Twist) and 1963, and rookie Toni was the drummer in this second LP.
At 62, Ed Wilson left for a solo career, and Erasmo Carlos, then secretary of Carlos Imperial, assumes the crooner of the set. It was in 1963 that Renato and His Blue Caps took the first link with CBS. The group followed Roberto Carlos in the recordings of Splish Splash, and I stood against the tide.
In 64, at the insistence of Roberto Carlos and Rossini Pinto, the group hired by CBS is launching a compact double. The band at this point, had Renato (lead guitar), Paulo Cesar (bass), Claudio (who had returned to all the recordings of this compact), Cid (sax) and Charlie's cousin Renato (rhythm guitar). After this compact, Toni returns once again to the position of drummer, and the set is, then, with the training that would make great success in subsequent years.
At this point, and His Blue Caps Renato was already known in Rio de Janeiro, due to frequent appearances on TV and radio presentations. In early 1965, the record company CBS decides finally releasing another LP set. During the recording, in January of that year, Renato Barros made without many pretensions, the Portuguese version for the song "I Should known better
