The way Prince went was way too convenient. The "elevator" literally brought him down. The pain meds too. Something tells me he's just playing a prank on all of us, because only Prince could orchestrate such a poetic ending.

This is the closest (the intro) to the original I have found. I guess its somehow different in other ways? Most versions out today cut the the original intro.

I was an 18 year old Marine in Cherry Point, NC. Fresh out of boot camp when I bought Purple Rain on cassette. That album was a big part of my youth. I miss those days. Bittersweet. RIP Prince.
