Ponychase - Ponychase Ep

Review by Alen Tardif

Ponychase's self-titled album is a masterclass in indie-pop songwriting. From the first notes of the opening track "Diamond in the Sky," it's clear that this Nashville-based band has a knack for catchy hooks and infectious melodies. Lead singer Jordan Caress's vocals are sweet and clear, with just the right amount of edge to cut through the mix. The band's instrumentation is tight and energetic, with guitars, keys, and drums all working together to create a dynamic sound that's both driving and danceable.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Parade," a bouncy, upbeat tune that showcases Caress's ability to write lyrics that are both clever and heartfelt. "I'll be your parade, if you'll be my confetti," she sings, capturing the joy and exuberance of falling in love. "One Trick Pony" is another standout, with its driving beat and memorable chorus. The album's slower moments, like "Fool's Gold" and "Long Gone," are just as compelling, with Caress's voice taking on a more contemplative tone.

About Ponychase

In the beginning, Ponychase was the pseudonym under which recorded a series of home demos. These demos didnt quite fit into what had come to be associated with her name and she wondered if she could even find like-minded musicians in Nashville to help her bring this dreamy, earnest synth pop to life. She serendipitously met , formerly of the Nashville band . After an exchange of demos and favorite records, Cameron was on board. Jordan enlisted her brother , to play synths, and electronic drummer , thus creating a foursome bound.
