Gershwin made several recordings for Columbia records in the late 1920's. What a shame that he was apparently not available to be the pianist in this recording' Of course the "Dream Recording" would have been with Walter Damrosch and the New York Symphony orchestra - who introduced the concerto in 1925 . Damrosch, who was a pioneer in introducing modern symphonic music, and who encouraged Gershwin to write the concerto, made numerous recordings for Columbia - both acoustical and electrical - and when the New York Symphony Orchestra merged with the New York Philharmonic in 1927 - Damrosch transfered his recording activities to the Victor Talking Machine Company in 1929 - conducting the National Symphony Orchestra. I believe that the National Symphony Orchestra was in fact the first NBC Symphony, created by Damrosch.

Glad to find Beiderbecke’s interpretation of the cornet solo, Always a treat to hear.
