Membranes - Dark MatterDark Energy

Review by Michelle Bentham

Dark Matter/Dark Energy is the latest album by Membranes, a post-punk band from England. The album was released in 2015 and features a mix of experimental sounds and dark lyrics.

The album opens with "The Universe Explodes Into A Billion Photons Of Pure White Light," a track that sets the tone for the rest of the album. The song begins with a slow, ominous beat before building to a crescendo of dissonant guitars and crashing drums.

Throughout the album, Membranes explore themes of science, religion, and the universe. "Do the Supernova" is a standout track, with its catchy chorus and driving rhythm. "21st Century Man" is another highlight, with its haunting vocals and eerie synth sounds.

While the album can be challenging at times, it rewards repeated listens. The layers of sound and intricate arrangements reveal themselves over time, making this an album that will stay with you long after the first listen.

Excellent. Must go and buy the album tomorrow, what i've heard sounds fantastic, and if it's all as good as the couple of tracks I've heard will be in my albums of the year.

This is beyond most anything out there! A sonic trip without drugs. A journey to the dark side - and back again - but not before kicking the fucking doors down!
