About Matty & Max
Punk rock musician and zine maker based in San Francisco, California. Guitarist and singer of the bands Fuckboyz and Hickey.
Luv moved from Florida to San Francisco in 1989 with his band Fuckboyz. This group broke up after their bassist, Scott moved back to Florida. Matty and drummer, started Hickey soon after in 1994. Hickey broke up in 1997 and Luv continued to make music with Dekker in rap group Dr. Dre Del and punk bands Yogurt and Miami.
He also co-founded the San Francisco Needle Exchange with Ro Giuliano to help stop the spread of HIV and Hepatitis among IV drug users. Matty Luv died of a heroin overdose at home in SF's Mission District on October 5th 2002.
