Leviathan's A Silhouette In Splinters is a stunning album that showcases the band's incredible musicianship and creativity. The album is a journey through a variety of genres, from black metal to ambient to experimental, all tied together by a haunting atmosphere and a sense of unease.

The album opens with the track "Blood Red and True," a blistering black metal assault that sets the tone for the rest of the album. From there, Leviathan takes the listener on a journey through a variety of soundscapes, including the eerie and unsettling "The Idiot Sun," the hypnotic and pulsing "The Bitter Emblem of Dissolve," and the hauntingly beautiful "Sardoniscorn."

The project's 2005 album, A Silhouette in Splinters, is a near instrumental jump into instrumental Post-Rock/Ambient soundscapes with dual guitars, effect-treated lines and funereal minor-key licks. Very evocative, if slightly repetitive.
