At San Quentin The Complete 1969 Concert Spiegel Edition by Johnny Cash is a must-have for any country music fan. The album features an electrifying performance by the man in black, recorded live at the infamous San Quentin State Prison in California. This Spiegel edition of the album includes all of the songs performed by Cash during the concert, as well as some previously unreleased tracks.
The album opens with the iconic "Wanted Man," and from there, Cash takes the audience on a journey through some of his biggest hits, including "Folsom Prison Blues," "I Walk the Line," and "Ring of Fire." The energy in the room is palpable, and Cash's gravelly voice is in top form.
One of the highlights of the album is Cash's interaction with the inmates. He tells stories, cracks jokes, and even takes requests from the audience. At one point, he invites a group of inmates to join him on stage to sing "Greystone Chapel," a song written by an inmate at San Quentin.
