Review by Sound

Burlington Bertie Tramp, the latest album by Herbie Flowers, is a delightful mix of jazz, blues, and rock music. The album showcases Flowers' exceptional talent as a bassist and composer, with every track featuring his signature groovy bass lines.

The album opens with the title track "Burlington Bertie Tramp," a jazzy tune that sets the tone for the rest of the album. The track features some excellent saxophone solos by Jim Hunt, which complement Flowers' bass playing perfectly. The album then moves on to "Soho Strut," a funky track that showcases Flowers' versatility as a composer.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Blues for Hughie," a beautiful blues ballad dedicated to Flowers' friend and fellow musician Hughie Flint. The track features some haunting guitar work by Chris Spedding, which adds to the emotional intensity of the song.

Another highlight of the album is "Lulu's Back in Town," a swinging jazz tune that features some excellent piano playing by Mike Gorman. The track is a great showcase for Flowers' bass playing, which is both melodic and rhythmic.
