A great movie and a beautiful theme.
Lisbon. I was at high school 1956 in S.Vicente in Cape Verde island and i will never forget this film and music. Now I am 82 and I still like and enjoy it.
I saw this movie in NYC in 1956 on my graduation trip from BISHOPVILLE SC never forgot Kim what a beautiful girl, love her still. I’m now 83 years old, and still in love with that girl.

What. A smooth song
It a wonderful music.
When I was ten I thought this was the sexiest thing ever. Now I watch it and see the awkwardness in Holden's body and Kim's stiff movement. Still, the way they stare at each other makes it work. Plus the song, and the strings welling up is moving.
Remember seeing it at the time and being completely electrified. Everybody was, especially in 1955. Not many things electrified anybody then.
Perfect counterpoint! One of the great hit songs of the 1950s. Steve Allen at the piano. The dance scene with Holden and Novak is one of the great scenes in movies.
Listening to songs like this made me realize that 1950s were indeed the time when the Great American Songbook genre ruled. Nothing from the subsequent decades came even close to rival these classic songs.
A beautiful, highly original theme and of course the arrangement is flawless. Very enjoyable to listen to - whether associated with the movie or just on its own.
