Funeral For A Friend - High Castles

Review by Sarah Keartes

Funeral For A Friend's latest album, "High Castles," is a stunning addition to their discography. The Welsh post-hardcore band has been around for over two decades, and their experience shows in the tight musicianship and emotive vocals that dominate this record.

The album opens with the atmospheric "Stand By Me For The Millionth Time," which sets the tone for the rest of the album. The guitars are heavy but melodic, and the chorus is anthemic in a way that will have listeners singing along. "You've Got A Bad Case Of The Religions" is another standout track, with its driving rhythm section and catchy hooks.

Throughout the album, the lyrics deal with themes of love, loss, and redemption, delivered with vocalist Matt Davies-Kreye's signature passion. The title track, "High Castles," is a prime example of this, with its soaring chorus and lyrics about overcoming obstacles.
