Review by Лариса Матвеенко

Zoot Allures is a highly regarded album by the legendary American musician Frank Zappa. Released in 1976, the album is a mix of rock, jazz, and blues, and is considered one of Zappa's most experimental works.

The album features a range of instruments, including guitars, keyboards, drums, and saxophones, and showcases Zappa's unique blend of musical styles. The tracks on the album are diverse, ranging from the funky "Black Napkins" to the jazzy "Zoot Allures" and the bluesy "Ms. Pinky."

Zappa's virtuosic guitar playing is on full display throughout the album, and his signature wit and humor are evident in tracks such as "Wind Up Working in a Gas Station" and "Disco Boy."

Zappa's only Warner Brothers release is a stripped down studio rock album with the added live track guitar tour de force Black Napkings ( recorded in Osaka Feb 76 ) . It's an exciting set that features a couple of soon to be Zappa standards in The Torture Never Stops ( an atmospheric lengthy piece featuring just FZ and drummer Terry Bozzio) and the beautiful instrumental Zoot Allures which would serve as a concert opener for many shows to come.Elsewhere his old pal Capt Beefheart turns up playing harp on Find Her Finer and Zappa reworks an old Jeff Simmons song Wonderful Wino.Wind Up Working In A Gas Station, Ms Pinky ( a synth driven ode to a rubber doll) and Disco Boy are standard albeit great Zappa fare and Friendly Little Finger is an example of Zappa's use of xenochrony ( placing a guitar solo over an unrelated rhythm track) If you are unfamiliar with Zappa, this album is a good starting point.
