Review by Lesley Hayes

Drifting by Eddie Boyd and His Chess Men is a classic blues album that showcases the soulful vocals and impressive piano skills of Eddie Boyd. The album features a mix of original tracks and covers, all with the signature sound of Boyd and his talented band. The opening track, "Drifting," sets the tone for the album with its slow, melancholic melody and heartfelt lyrics. Other standout tracks include "Five Long Years" and "Blue Coat Man," which showcase Boyd's vocal range and ability to convey emotion through his music. The album as a whole is a testament to Boyd's talent as a musician and his contributions to the blues genre. Fans of classic blues will definitely want to check out Drifting by Eddie Boyd and His Chess Men.

A classic tune! FYI-Lurrie Bell just covered this tune on his latest release-"Can't Shake This Feeling" on the great Delmark Label. Well worth checking out, Lurrie is a legit, second generation player, and his new CD is a damn fine representation of Chicago Blues at its finest!
