Dysthymia - MindWill Action

Review by Jeff Brown

Dysthymia's latest album, MindWill Action, is a triumph of atmospheric black metal. The band's ability to create an intense and immersive soundscape is on full display here, with each track transporting the listener to a world of dark and haunting beauty.

The album opens with "Transcendence," a slow-burning instrumental that sets the tone for what's to come. From there, the band launches into "The Illusion of Choice," a blistering track that showcases their technical prowess and raw energy.

Throughout the album, Dysthymia's use of melody and texture is particularly impressive. Songs like "Suffocating" and "Abandoned" feature swirling layers of guitar and keyboard that create a sense of depth and complexity. Meanwhile, tracks like "Dissociation" and "The Abyss" are more straightforward in their approach, but no less effective in their ability to convey a sense of darkness and despair.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "The Endless Cycle," which features guest vocals from Aara's Fluss. Her haunting voice is a perfect complement to Dysthymia's sound, adding an extra layer of emotional intensity to an already powerful song.
