DBC - Dead Brain Cells

Review by Radu Stoia

Dead Brain Cells, the debut album from Canadian thrash metal band DBC, is a relentless assault on the senses. Released in 1987, the album showcases the band's technical prowess and penchant for aggressive, politically charged lyrics.

The opening track, "The Genesis Explosion," sets the tone with its blistering riffs and scathing social commentary. From there, the album only gets more intense, with tracks like "Deadlock" and "Civilization Dying" delivering a barrage of thrashing guitars and thunderous drums.

Despite its ferocity, Dead Brain Cells is not without its moments of nuance. The instrumental "Monument" showcases the band's musicality, while "The Trauma" features a haunting acoustic intro before launching into a frenzied assault.

MASTERPIECE! I saw them a few times live when I was kid and never got over how amazingly they write and play their music. The unique way the riffs and drum are played plus the right vocals in every song. All their albums are great.Very progressive form of metal. Thank you so much for making this available!!!

I met one of the members last year. Apparently one of the founding members helped fix my Washburn Ml guitar in Montreal. Right at Steve's musique/music.
I even happened to be wearing a cool D.B.C shirt i had purchased at a Show in The Spectrum st.Catherine st Montréal. I walked in the guy at counter pointed out my shirt saying one of the members works here, he saw my shirt and got surprised ?. Was pretty ?

I remember I bought this cassette back in the mid 80's. Some of my nerdy friends borrowed the tape as a joke, but they ended up loving it too. What happen to these guys?
