Chet Baker Ensemble & Sextet - Chet Baker Ensemble Sextet

Review by Mike Kitchen

The Chet Baker Ensemble Sextet's self-titled album is a masterpiece of jazz music. The album features Chet Baker on trumpet, alongside a group of talented musicians including Phil Urso on tenor saxophone, Bobby Timmons on piano, Jimmy Bond on bass, and Peter Littman and Lawrence Marable on drums.

The album's opening track, "Alone Together," sets the tone for the rest of the album with its smooth and mellow sound. Baker's trumpet playing is as beautiful as ever, and the ensemble's tight and cohesive playing creates a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Other standout tracks on the album include "How High the Moon," which features some impressive soloing from Urso and Timmons, and "Pent-Up House," which showcases the group's ability to swing hard.
