Black Tusk - 2006 Demo

Review by Marketing Dos Punto Cero

The album 2006 Demo by Black Tusk is a raw and energetic display of their early sound. The three-piece sludge metal band from Georgia delivers a crushing mix of punk, metal, and hardcore that sets them apart from their contemporaries.

The album features six tracks, including "Rider," "End of Days," and "Set the Dial to Your Doom." Each song showcases the band's signature sound, with thunderous drums, distorted guitars, and aggressive vocals.

While the production quality may not be as polished as their later releases, the roughness of the recording adds to the overall intensity of the album. It's clear that Black Tusk was a force to be reckoned with even in their early days.

About Black Tusk

American Heavy Metal band from Savannah, Georgia. The band formed in 2005, when its members were all living on the same street. Black Tusk is mostly associated with Baroness and Kylesa, for their shared hometown of Savannah, as well as for their Sludge Metal sound. The band is linked to Baroness' guitarist and vocalist John Dyer Baizley, who created some of Black Tusk's artwork. Black Tusk's members described their music as "Swamp Metal". The term is a reference to the climate of Savannah in relation to the music that the band created. Bassist and vocalist Jonathan Athon passed away on 9 November 2014 from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident that happened two days earlier. In December 2014 it was announced that Corey Barhorst would take his place for the time being. In 2018 Chris 'Scary' Adams joined the band. Barhorst left Black Tusk again some time later.
