Black Cobra - Bestial

Bestial, the latest album by Black Cobra, is a sonic assault on the senses. The duo, consisting of guitarist/vocalist Jason Landrian and drummer Rafael Martinez, has crafted a collection of tracks that are heavy, aggressive, and unrelenting.

From the opening riff of "Challenger Deep," it is clear that Black Cobra means business. The guitars are thick and distorted, the drums thunderous, and Landrian's vocals are a primal scream. The album continues in this vein, with tracks like "Eye Among The Blind" and "The Messenger" delivering bone-crushing riffs and pounding rhythms.

While Bestial is certainly not for the faint of heart, it is a masterclass in heavy metal. Landrian's guitar work is impressive throughout, with each riff and solo perfectly executed. Martinez's drumming is equally impressive, providing a solid backbone for the album's relentless assault.

I've been preaching for YEARS with so much backlash from the music world, that in order to be HEAVY, you have to ditch the damn bass guitar. Here is your proof. Big drums and sludge guitar is sooooo much heavier that the traditional obsession with shrill mid guitars on top of bass fuzz. You can look back at other genres as well where this proved to be true...take the pop genre, Prince Purple Rain. You can even go into the uber hard industrial scene...Author and Punisher. He uses machines....with no bass, hell even no guitar. Love this band. They are one of the few examples of music that follow what I have felt to be true. Hard and heavy doesn't require bass...Jazz does. My heaviest track that I wrote was a synth part over distorted drums with no bass at all. Try it.....it works.
