Barry Adamson - Movieology

Review by Col Ashton

Barry Adamson's "Movieology" is a stunning ode to the world of cinema. The album is a perfect blend of soundscapes, orchestration, and storytelling that takes the listener on a journey through the history of film. From the opening track, "The Man with the Golden Arm," to the closing track, "The Cinematic Orchestra," Adamson's compositions are masterful and full of emotion.

The album features a range of instruments, from the haunting strings of "The Big Bamboozle" to the jazzy horns of "The Ticking Clock." Adamson's use of percussion is particularly impressive, as he weaves in different rhythms and beats to create a sense of movement and urgency.

The standout track on the album is "The Second Stain," which features a spoken-word performance by actor Bill Nighy. Nighy's deep, gravelly voice adds a layer of drama to Adamson's music, creating a cinematic experience that is both thrilling and poignant.
